Aerial Cable/Self Supporting

Aerial Self Supporting cables are often referred to as Figure 8 cables because the profile of these types of cables resembles the number eight. This type of cable construction includes a messenger wire which allows it to be run in a single pass – there is no need to first run the messenger wire to support the fiber optic cable because it is already part of the optical cable.
