Outdoor Cable

Outdoor cables have a very rugged construction so they can endure the harsh conditions of being deployed in outside applications. Typically the optical fibers are surrounded by a petroleum based gel called Icky Pic that protects them from being damaged by water and extreme temperatures. A black polyethylene outer jacket also provides protection from ultra-violet light.
